FORMER Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet used up to eight false passports to open multimillion-dollar secret bank accounts in the US, Diario Siete newspaper reported.

Judge Sergio Munoz who is investigating charges of tax evasion, illegal enrichment and money laundering said Pinochet, 89, had four fake passports and sought more false documents using different names.

The passports used names composed by rearranging other names and surnames of Pinochet, such as his second surname Ugarte, the newspaper said.
